I finally caved. After weeks of seeing those wide-eyed, pointy-toothed little creatures all over TikTok and Pinterest, I bought my very first Labubu blind box. And not just any Labubu — I went straight in with Version 3.
I’ve never owned a Pop Mart collectible before, so this was a complete first-timer experience. And honestly? I get the hype now.
What Even Is a Labubu?
Labubu is part of The Monsters lineup created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. The lineup came out originally as a picture book series. Pop Mart saw the potential and produced the blind box collectible versions for our entertainment and their pocketbooks.
Blind boxes means you don’t know which one you are getting until you open it – half the fun is the surprise.
Each Labubu is about 3 inches tall, with exaggerated teeth, long ears, and quirky themes.
Version 3 — My First Pull
Unboxing my very first Labubu felt like childhood trading cards mixed with adult retail therapy. The suspense of tearing open the packaging was REAL.
The Big Into Energy V3 includes 6 common Labubu’s (1 in 6 chance) which most of
us will end up getting. Of course, there is also one ultra-rare ID that is black with rainbow glittery eyes/teeth. Part of the draw, only a 1 in 72 chance to pull it.

Why I Think Collecting Labubu Is Addictive
Even though this was my first, I can already see why people end up with shelves full of them:
- Blind Box Thrill → The “what am I gonna get?” dopamine hit. (Dopamine hits are a big win with ADHD)
- Display Worthy → They’re small but detailed — perfect for a desk, shelf, or cozy nook.
- Community Vibes → There’s a whole online world of collectors swapping, trading, and showing off rare pulls.
- Chase Figures → Each series has at least one rare hidden version that keeps collectors coming back.

Also, of course on TikTok, the official PopMart site, and various specialty retailers. A word of caution, be aware of fakes. There are several knockoff ones out there; always make sure you buy from a reputable business. Always look for QR codes or UV stamps to avoid fakes.
My Collector Plans (aka, Send Help)
This was supposed to be “just one box.” But now I want:
- A full set of Version 3
- One of the rare chase figures
- Accessories galore- there are so very many super cute, trending items you can dress your Labubu with or even put her in… think mini scooters, car seats, little beds.

Conclusion
My very first Labubu unboxing turned me from “curious scroller” to “new collector” in one box flat. If you’ve been on the fence, trust me — it’s worth ripping one open. Just be prepared: one Labubu almost never stays one.
